FaceLive Camera for Windows: A Face Swap Webcam for Any Call (No OBS)
One small app, one new webcam in your camera list. Pick “FaceLive Camera” in any call app and your AI face shows up, live, with no OBS and no plugins.
What it is
FaceLive Camera is a free Windows 11 app that adds a webcam called FaceLive Camera to your computer. Inside the app you run the same live face swap as the FaceLive studio. Every call app that lets you choose a camera (WhatsApp, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord, Telegram, Skype, Slack) can then pick FaceLive Camera, and the people on the call see your AI face, following your smiles, blinks and head turns.
Until now the only way to get a browser face swap into a call app was OBS Studio and its virtual camera. That works, but it means installing OBS, adding a window capture, cropping it and starting the virtual camera every time. FaceLive Camera does all of that for you.
How to set it up (2 minutes)
- Download FaceLive Camera and run the installer. Installing is the step that adds the webcam to Windows. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info → Run anyway; it only asks once.
- Sign in, press Start camera, pick a face and press Transform.
- In your call app, open the camera settings and choose FaceLive Camera.
The full tutorial with per-app steps lives on the FaceLive Camera for Windows page.
Why there are two cameras now
Your real webcam still exists. FaceLive Camera uses it to read your expressions, then sends the swapped video out as the new camera. So in your call app you must pick FaceLive Camera, not your real webcam. If you pick the real one, the call app and FaceLive fight over it and you get a “camera in use” error. More on that in our camera-in-use fix.
Call Mode
Press Call Mode while the AI is live and the app shrinks to a small always-on-top window at the side of your screen. You keep an eye on your AI face while the call app takes the rest of the screen. The Real button switches the call back to your real face for a moment; Swap brings the AI face back.
What it costs
The app is free. Live AI time comes from the same minutes as the web studio, with a free trial to start. Only seconds when the AI is live count; setup and browsing are free. See FaceLive pricing.
Requirements
- Windows 11 (64-bit). Windows 10 doesn't have the built-in virtual camera support the app relies on.
- Any webcam. A laptop camera is enough; good light helps more than an expensive camera (see the lighting tips).
- A steady connection with about 5 Mbps upload (see the internet speed guide).
Use it fairly
Only use your own face or a likeness you have permission to use, and don't use it to deceive people. Read the consent rules and is face swap legal.
FAQ
Do I still need OBS? No. FaceLive Camera replaces the OBS Virtual Camera route for calls.
Does it work on Mac? Not yet. On a Mac, use the browser studio with OBS: the OBS Virtual Camera guide.
Does it need a gaming PC? No. The AI runs in the FaceLive cloud; your PC only streams video.
How do updates work? The app tells you when a new version is out, and the download link always serves the newest one.
